Project Overview

State Farm® is the first Property & Casualty Insurance Company worldwide to achieve TRUE zero waste facility certifications.  The South Carolina Multi-Regional Services Facility (MRSF) became TRUE zero waste certified in late 2023, achieving an impressive 96.3% overall diversion rate.

State Farm & MRSF Zero Waste Initiatives:

  • Established an internal zero waste goal in 2022 to achieve a 90% diversion rate at select sites.

  • Formalized a Zero Waste Policy based on TRUE strategies.

  • Reduced the use of virgin paper through 20% minimum post-consumer recycled paper for janitorial products and 30% minimum post-consumer recycled paper for office paper.

  • Reused totes for storage and transport of materials, reducing the use of cardboard.

  • Created systems to repair, reuse, redistribute, and recycle electronic assets and e-waste.

The MRSF teams are committed to processes which reduce landfill waste, while exploring opportunities to reuse and recycle materials. The MRSF TRUE achievement is a testament to State Farm’s operational efficiencies, responsible use of resources, and sustainability initiatives.
